James H. Spieth, 74 years old of Monroeville, Indiana, passed away at 1:50 a.m. on Friday, December 12, 2008 at his residence. James was born on Thursday, January 11, 1934 in Ft. Wayne, Indiana the son of the late Ferdinand Spieth and the late Marcella (Gerardot) Spieth. He married Helene M. Sorg on September 5, 1959 in Hessen Cassel and she survives. James was a member of St. Louis Besancon Catholic Church in New Haven, Indiana; and the American Legion Post #43 in Decatur, Indiana. James served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict from 1953-1955. James worked at Dana Corporation in Ft. Wayne, Indiana as a machine operator for 30 years retiring on disability in 1984. Surviving are his wife, Helene M. Spieth of Monroeville, Indiana, daughter, Mrs. Patrick (Stephanie) Burkhart of Ft. Wayne, Indiana, daughter, Mrs. Bruce (Laurie) Hojak of Delaware, Ohio, daughter, Mrs. Scott (Erin) Warden of Ft. Wayne, Indiana, son, Christopher (Tammy) Spieth of Monroeville, Indiana, son, Jeffery (Michelle) Spieth of Monroeville, Indiana, son, Arnold (Lynda) Spieth of Monroeville, Indiana, son, Andrew (Missy) Spieth of Maria Stein, Ohio, son, John Spieth of Monroeville, Indiana, son, Sam (Renee) Spieth of Woodburn, Indiana, son, Eric (Danielle) Spieth of Churubusco, Indiana, brother, Herman Spieth of New Haven, Indiana, brother, Francis Spieth of Monroeville, Indiana, brother, Bernard Spieth of Albion, Indiana, brother, Larry Spieth of Ft. Wayne, Indiana, brother, Donald Spieth of San Antonio, Texas, sister, Mary Royal, of Michigan, sister, Marjorie Schleinkofer of New Haven, Indiana, sister, Patricia Kramer of Ft. Wayne, Indiana, sister, Rita Walker of New Haven, Indiana, thirty-two grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. Preceding James in death were two brothers, Joseph and Walter Spieth. A 9:15 a.m. Prayer Service will be held Tuesday, December 16, 2008 in the Zwick and Jahn Funeral Home, Jacobs Chapel in Monroeville, Indiana followed by a 10:00 a.m.Mass of Christian Burial in the St. Louis Besancon Catholic Church with Fr. Stephen Colchin officiating. Interment will follow in the St. Louis Besancon Catholic Cemetery. Military Graveside Services will be conducted by Adams County Post #43 Color Guard. Friends will be received from 12:00 NOON - 4 p.m. and 6-8:30 p.m. Monday, December 15, 2008 in the Zwick and Jahn Funeral Home, Jacobs Chapel, Monroeville, Indiana. A Rosary will be recited at 8:30 p.m. Monday in the funeral home. Preferred memorials are Masses to the church or Turnstone or Visiting Nurse Service & Hospice.
