Mabel L. Fuelling, 91 years old and a lifelong resident of Monroeville, Indiana, passed away on Tuesday, July 21, 2009 in the Parkview Hospital. She was born on Saturday, June 1, 1918 in Monroeville, Indiana the daughter of the late John Hawkins and the late Monema (Fleming) Hawkins. She married the late Martin C. "Mike" Fuelling on December 8, 1940 in Illinois and he passed away on November 18, 1997. Mabel was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Monroeville and was a former president and member of Von Bora Society of the church. She was a graduate of Hoagland High School class of 1936. She was the former editor of Monroeville News; working there from 1970 to 2008. Mabel loved spending time with her family, entertaining, music, and her farm were her passions. She also enjoyed painting and artwork. Surviving are her son, Lynn D. (Susan) Fuelling of Miami, Florida, son, Kenneth D. Fuelling of Monroeville, daughter, Coleen K. Christman of Fort Wayne, daughter, Joy A. Zandimoghaddam of Clearwater, Florida, brother, Howard A. Hawkins of Lakeland, Florida, eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Preceding Mabel in death were three brothers; Robert & Richard Hawkins and an infant brother and one sister, June Perry. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 25, 2009 in the St. Mark's Lutheran Church with Rev. William Smith officiating. Interment will follow in the Monroeville Memorial Cemetery. Friends will be received from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Friday, July 24 in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Jacobs Chapel, Monroeville and from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service Saturday in the church. Preferred memorials are to St. Mark's Lutheran Church & Monroeville E.M.S.
