Robert F. Plummer, 76 years old of Decatur, Indiana, passed away at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, December 25, 2010 in the Adams Memorial Hospital located in Decatur, Indiana. He was born on Monday, July 23, 1934 in Defiance, Ohio the son of the late Paul A. Plummer and the late Margrate M. (Boday) Plummer. He married the late Betty L. Griggs on June 19, 1954 in Antwerp, Ohio and she passed away on August 1, 2006. Robert was a member of the St. Mark's United Methodist Church in Decatur; the American Legion Post #43; Military Officers Association of America in Washington D.C.; a graduate of Defiance High School Class of 1952 in Defiance, Ohio; El Paso Community College and AA General Studies in March of 1974. Robert served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War and the Vietnam War, having been stationed in Greenland, Okinawa, and the United States. Robert was a Radar Electronics Computer Technician-Air Defense & Ballistic Missile Defense Systems for the United States Army for 25 years retiring in 1977, and had been employed by Teledyne Brown Engineering for 20 years, retiring in 1998. Surviving are his brother, Ray E. (Dianne) Plummer of Warsaw, Indiana; brother, Larry L. (Joyce) Plummer of Defiance, Ohio; brother, Carey W. (Brenda) Plummer of Napoleon, Ohio; sister, Margaret A. (Jerry) Ramey of Defiance, Ohio; and sister, Nancy J. Oberhaus of West Unity, Ohio. Preceding Robert in death were two brothers, George J. Plummer and Thomas R. Plummer. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 29, 2010 in the St. Mark's United Methodist Church with Pastor Michael Heinbaugh officiating. Interment will follow in the Decatur Cemetery. Military Graveside Services will be conducted by the Adams County Color Guard Post #43. Friends will be received from 9-10:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 28 in the Woodcrest Chapel and 2-5 and 6-8 p.m. in the Zwick and Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur, Indiana and one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday. Preferred memorials are to Indiana Kidney Association.
