Vaughn D. Reinhart, 55 years old of Monroe, Indiana, passed away at 5:28 a.m. on Tuesday, November 14, 2006 at his residence after a long fought battle with Lou Gehrig's Disease. Vaughn was born on November 23, 1950 in Bluffton, Indiana, the son of the late Richard W. Reinhart and the late Phyllis J. (Barger) Reinhart. He married Gayla M. Key on October 13, 1979 in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Vaughn served in the United States Army during the Vietnam war in 1972 and in the Air Force in Iraq during August of 2004. Vaughn was a member of Monroe United Brethren Church, where he served on the Administrative Board and as a Lay Delegate. He was a graduate of Adams Central High School Class of 1970 and had attended Fort Wayne International Business College. Vaughn was an adult leader for the Boy Scouts of America Troop # 72 in Monroe, Indiana and was a member of the Blue Creek Township Conservation Club of Pleasant Mills, Indiana. He enjoyed target shooting, model cars and scouting. Vaughn had been employed by Bendix for 2 1/2 years retiring in 2005 and had previously worked at General Electric in Decatur, Indiana for 19 years. Surviving are his wife, Gayla M. Reinhart of Monroe, Indiana, son, Jeremy S. Reinhart of Monroe, Indiana, son, Stephen P. Reinhart of Monroe, Indiana, sister, Mrs. Doug (Carol A.) Gaskill of Van Wert, Ohio, and sister, Mrs. Randy (Patti J.) Johnston of Monroeville, Indiana. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, November 17, 2006 in the Cornerstone Church with Rev. Troy Green officiating. Interment will follow in the Covington Memorial Gardens, Fort Wayne, Indiana. Friends will be received from 1-4 and 5-8 p.m. Thursday, November 16, 2006 in the Zwick and Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur, Indiana and one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. Preferred memorials are to the Boy Scouts Troop # 72, American Legion or the Fallen Hero Last Wishes Foundation.
