Margaret O. Kuhn, 103 years old of Decatur, Indiana, passed away on Wednesday, March 16, 2011 in the Christian Care Retirement Community located in Bluffton. She was born on Monday, October 28, 1907 in Willshire, Ohio the daughter of the late John M. Byer and the late Jennie F. (Hileman) Byer. She married Carl J. Kuhn on June 16, 1935 in Huntington, Indiana and he passed away on August 20, 1993. Margaret was a member of the Willshire United Methodist Church and the Women's Society of the church. She was also a member of the National Teachers Association, the Indiana State Teacher's Association and the Retired Teacher's Association. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Alma College in Alma, Michigan in 1930 and also received a Master's Degree in 1961 from Ball State University. She was a retired teacher with 28 years of service. She had taught at Midland High School in Midland, Michigan, Willshire High School, Lincoln School - Blue Creek Township, and Adams Central Elementary Schools. Surviving are her daughter, Suzanne K. (James) Smith of Decatur, Indiana, son, Hubert J. (Rev. Dr. Joyce)Kuhn of Osceola, Indiana, eight grandchildren; Carla Alspaugh, Clayton Smith, Curtis Smith, Colleen Blanton, Nick Smith, Marni Yannaccone, Angi Kuhn, and Lesli Kuhn, twelve great-grandchildren; Celeste Rupel, Claire Carew, Clinton Smith, Brielle Smith, Preston Smith, Jade Smith, Jalen Smith, Ashley Smith, Case Smith, Nicolas Smith, Ethan Smith, and Izora Jane Yannaccone, and one great great-grandchild; Adrianna Enza Rupel. Preceding Margaret in death were a granddaughter, Kathryn Lee Kuhn; great-granddaughter: Cora Yannaccone; two brothers; Russell R. & Hubert H. Byer and one sister, Blanche B. Bryan. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, March 20, 2011 in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home with Rev. Dr. Joyce Kuhn officiating. Interment will follow in the Willshire Cemetery, Willshire, Ohio. Friends will be received from 2 to 6 p.m., Saturday, March 19 in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur and from 11:00 a.m. Sunday until the time of the service at the funeral home. Preferred memorials are to Christian Care Center, Bluffton, Indiana.
