Bruce E. Palmer, 69 years old of Monroeville, Indiana, passed away at 6:07 p.m. on Saturday, March 14, 2009 in the Parkview Hospital located in Fort Wayne, Indiana following a sudden illness. Bruce was born on Sunday, October 15, 1939 in Salina, Kansas the son of the late Francis Palmer and the late Via (Marner) Palmer. He grew up in Charleston, Illinois. He married Angela R. Stallbaum on February 15, 1985 in Corunna, Indiana and she survives. Bruce was a member of the Monroeville United Methodist Church and a current member of the Monroeville Town Council. He was a charter member of the Monroeville Lion's Club and also a member of the Three Rivers Gem & Mineral Society. He served as the Ft. Wayne District Coordinator of Lay Ministries for the past thirty years. He attended Eastern Illinois University and the University of Michigan. Bruce was an actuary in the insurance industry. He had previously worked for Lincoln Life Insurance Company and also Mutual Security Life, where he was an assistant Vice-President. He served as President of Great Fidelity Life insurance Company and retired from Physicians Health Plan in 2006 as the chief actuary. Surviving are his wife, Angela R. Presler-Palmer of Monroeville, Indiana, daughter, Doris Palmer of Auburn, Indiana, daughter, Rachelle (Marvin) O'Connor of Montpelier, Ohio, daughter, Elisabeth Palmer of Minneapolis, Minnesota, son, Alan (Tina) Palmer of Wabash, Indiana, daughter, Lisa (Craig) Johnson of New Paris, Indiana, daughter, Debra (Gary) Keller of Clarion, Iowa, daughter, Dana (Ray) Goelz of Valparaiso, Indiana, brother, Dr. George (Betty) Palmer of Wilmington, Delaware, eleven grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. Memorial Services will be held at 6:00 p.m. Thursday, March 19, 2009 in the Monroeville United Methodist Church with Rev. Denise Lapsley officiating. Memorial Visitation at 4:00 p.m. until the time of service Thursday in the Monroeville United Methodist Church. Preferred memorials are to Monroeville United Methodist Church; NO FLOWERS, Please.
