Homer Dwane Beam, 74 years old of Monroeville, Indiana, passed away on Friday, August 3, 2007 at his residence. He was born on Friday, July 28, 1933 in Fort Wayne, Indiana the son of the late Alva Melvin Beam and the late Neva Mae (Buck) Beam. He married Mary Brown on November 7, 1959 in the St. Andrews Catholic Church, Fort Wayne. Homer served in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of St. Rose Catholic Church, Monroeville. Homer was also a member of the American Legion Post #420 of Monroeville, Moose Lodge #2094 of Defiance, Ohio, V.F.W. Post #2457 of New Haven and the Eagles Aerie #3164 of New Haven. He retired in 1986 from International Harvester with 30 years of service as a production worker. Surviving are his wife, Mary Beam of Monroeville, Indiana, sister, Shirley (James) Freeman of Lake City, Florida, and several nieces and nephews. Preceding Homer in death were seven brothers and sisters. A prayer service will be held at 9:30 a.m. Monday, August 6, 2007 in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Jacobs Chapel, Monroeville and will be followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in the St. Rose Catholic Church with Fr. Stephen Colchin officiating. Interment will follow in the Catholic Cemetery of Fort Wayne, Indiana with Military Graveside Services conducted by the American Legion Post #420 Color Guard. Friends will be received from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., Sunday, August 5 in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Jacobs Chapel in Monroeville. A Rosary will be held at 5:00 p.m. following the visitation in the funeral home. Preferred memorials are to Masses to the Church or the Parkview Hospice.
