Elva Mae Hammond, 77 years old of Fort Wayne, Indiana, passed away at 5:39 p.m. on Saturday, February 4, 2012 in the Harbour Assisted Living located in Fort Wayne, where she had been a resident for the past five years. Elva was born on Friday, February 16, 1934 in Poe, Indiana the daughter of the late Allen Emerick and the late Arta (Jameson) Emerick. She married James Hammond who passed away in 1976. Elva also enjoyed working outside, gardening, and cooking - especially pie baking. Elva was a seamstress for Coverall Rental Service. Surviving are her son, Donald D. (Ruth) Hammond of Avilla, Indiana; son, Frederick M. (Pam) Hammond of Hoagland, Indiana; son, Roy G. (Theresa) Hammond of Fort Wayne, Indiana; brother, Donald G. (Betty) Emerick of Hoagland, Indiana; five grandchildren: Matthew Hammond, Kari Hammond, Rachel Hammond, Natalie Hammond, and Isabel Hammond. Preceding Elva in death was one daughter: Diana Hammond who passed away in 1970 at age 16. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, February 9, 2012 in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Jacobs Chapel with Rev. Stacy Downing officiating. Interment will follow in the Antioch Lutheran Cemetery, Hoagland, Indiana. Friends will be received from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Thursday, February 9, 2012 in the Zwick and Jahn Funeral Home, Jacobs Chapel, Monroeville, Indiana. Preferred memorials are to the Donor's Choice.
