LaVera Schroeder, 86 years old of Decatur, Indiana passed away at 2:20 p.m. on Friday, September 28, 2012 in the Parkview Hospital Whitley County Hospital located in Columbia City, Indiana. LaVera was born on Sunday, February 28, 1926 in Adams County, Indiana the daughter of the late Martin E. Kiefer and the late Clara (Wietfeldt) Kiefer. She married the late Gerald H. Schroeder on November 18, 1945 in Zion Lutheran Church- Friedheim in rural Decatur and he passed away on December 7, 1995. LaVera was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church (Suburban) on Decatur Rd. in Ft. Wayne, Indiana, where she was a member of the Ladies Guild. LaVera had worked at Luginbill Wire Die in New Haven, Indiana. Surviving are her son, Perry (Nancy) Schroeder of Ft. Wayne, IN; son, Alan (June) Schroeder of Columbia City, IN; brother, Gilbert (Margaret) Kiefer of Phoenix, AZ; six grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren. Preceding LaVera in death were one son, Jan Schroeder; four brothers, Arthur, Elmer, Erwin, and Gerhard Kiefer; and one sister, Elda Schuller. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Monday, October 1, 2012 in the Trinity Lutheran Church (Suburban) 7819 Decatur Road, Ft. Wayne, Indiana with Rev. Jerry Winegarden officiating. Interment will follow in the Trinity Lutheran Church Cemetery (Suburban). Friends will be received from 1-4 p.m. Sunday, September 30, 2012 in the Zwick and Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur, IN and one hour prior to the services at the church on Monday. Preferred memorials are to Trinity Lutheran Church (Suburban) or Donor's Choice.
