Ellen L. Springer-Thieme, 92 years old of Decatur, Indiana, passed away on Sunday, November 18, 2012 in Woodcrest Nursing Center. She was born on Monday, May 31, 1920 in Adams County, Indiana the daughter of the late Fred E. Fuelling and the late Elsie M. (Franz) Fuelling. She married Forrest A. Springer on November 10, 1945 and he passed away on May 24, 1984. On January 26, 2002 she married Harold E. Thieme and he survives. Ellen was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Flatrock; where she served on the Ladies Aid and was a charter member of the Altar Guild. She was a homemaker and was also active in the Root Township Home Economics Club. Surviving are her husband, Harold E. Thieme of Decatur; daughter, Janet (Joseph) Azbell of Decatur; daughter, Becky Jo (Dennis) Zelt of Monroeville; step-daughter, Karel Dailey of Fort Wayne; step-daughter, Donna Daniels of Decatur; step-son, Duane (Kathy) Thieme of Fort Wayne; sister, Ruth Kunkel of Decatur; and sister, Dorothy DeLong of Decatur. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Adam (Christy) Zelt; Jennifer (Joshua) Scheumann; Jill (Mike) Grimm; and Joseph Azbell; eight step-grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, six step great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Thomas Lynn Springer on January 8, 1973 and two brothers, Edgar & Fred Fuelling. . Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 21, 2012 in the St. John Lutheran Church, Flatrock with Rev. Douglas Christian officiating. Interment will follow in the St. John Lutheran Cemetery, Flatrock. Friends will be received from 2 to 5 & 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, November 20 in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur and one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday. There will also be visitation at the Woodcrest Porter Auditorium on Wednesday from 9:30 a.m to 10:30 a.m. Preferred memorials are to St. John Lutheran Church, Flatrock; Zion Lutheran Church, Decatur; or Worship for Shut-Ins.
