Jack Edson Reiff, 89 years old of Decatur, Indiana, passed away on Friday, December 14, 2012 in the Adams Memorial Hospital. He was a resident of Woodcrest Nursing Center the past two years. He was born on Thursday, April 12, 1923 in Bluffton, Indiana the son of the late Johnnie Reiff and the late Gladys (Quick) Reiff. He married Doreen Ruth Luestner on May 20, 1944 in Townsville, Queensland, Australia and she passed away on June 6, 1964. He then married Earlene A. "Scottie" Cummings on March 5, 1965 in Bluffton, Indiana and she passed away on January 25, 2003. Jack served in the United States Army during WWII in Papua, New Guinea. Jack was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Freidheim. He was also a member of the Moose Lodge #1311 in Decatur, the American Legion Post #111 in Bluffton, and the VFW #6236 in Decatur where he was a past commander. He was also Senior Council President at Woodcrest Nursing Center. He was a 1941 graduate of Bluffton High School and retired in 1985 as a line supervisor for American Electric Power (Indiana Michigan Power). Surviving are his son, Anthony F. "Tony" (Linda) Reiff of Bluffton; daughter, Angela T. (Steve) Yarrington of Decatur; grandson, Benjamin John (Kelly) Reiff of Indianapolis; grandson, Christopher Lucas Reiff of Stockton, California; sister, Joyce (Ellis, Jr.) Braner of Bluffton; and sister, Joan (Eugene) Mendenhall of Bluffton. Preceding Jack in death were two brothers, Verdane & Robert Reiff. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, December 28, 2012 in the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Friedheim with Pastor Daniel Dahling officiating. Interment will follow in the Decatur Cemetery. Military Graveside services will be conducted by American Legion Post #43 of Decatur. Friends will be received from 5 to 8 p.m., Thursday, December 27 in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur. Preferred memorials are to Zion Lutheran Church - Friedheim or Calvary Lutheran Church in Bluffton.
