Harold R. "B.B." "Bud" Blauvelt, 88 years old of Monroeville, Indiana, passed away on Friday, December 14, 2012 in the Visiting Nurse & Hospice Home located in Fort Wayne. He was born on Thursday, June 12, 1924 in Fort Wayne, Indiana the son of the late Harold A. Blauvelt and the late Edna (Lenington) Nord. He married Carolyn M. Beauchot on June 29, 1946. They celebrated their 66th Wedding Anniversary this past June. "B.B." served his country in the United States Army during World War II as a Corporal. He was a tank gunner in the 8th Armored Divison. He fought in the Battle of the Bulge and received three bronze stars. He was a member of the St. Rose Catholic Church in Monroeville and had served as an usher for the church. He was a member of the VFW #10205 where he was Commander in 1992; the American Legion Post #420 in Monroeville and it's Color Guard; and the Knights of Columbus. He was also a member of the Quarter Century Club at G.E. and the G.E. Fire Department. He was a graduate of Monroeville High School Class of 1942. "B.B." retired in 1985 after 43 years as a Tool Maker with General Electric in Fort Wayne, Indiana. He was a loving husband, father,and grandfather who was dedicated to his family. He proudly served his country and enjoyed going to Army reunions. Surviving are his wife, Carolyn M. Blauvelt of Monroeville; son, Mike (Kathy) Blauvelt of New Haven; son, Jack A. (Theresa) Blauvelt of Monroeville; son, Edward J. Blauvelt of Fort Wayne; son, Thomas R. (Laura) Blauvelt of Monroeville; son, Chris A. (Julie) Blauvelt of Monroeville; daughter, Diane K. Schane of Monroeville; daughter, Barbara L. Blauvelt of Fort Wayne; daughter, Beth A. (Neal) Rothgeb of Monroeville; daughter, Joan L. (Keith) Bultemeier of Monroeville; daughter, Patricia M. (Dan) Foster of Monroeville; daughter, Carol L. Blauvelt of Fort Wayne; and half-sister, Carolyn Stevens of Scott, Ohio. He is also survived by twenty-nine grandchildren, thirty-three great-grandchildren, one great great-grandchild. Preceding Harold in death was a half-sister, Hilda Boren. A prayer service will be held on Monday, December 17, 2012 at 1:20 p.m. in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Jacobs Chapel followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 2:00 p.m. in the St. Rose Catholic Church with Fr. Lourdino Fernandes officiating. Interment will follow in the St. Rose Catholic Cemetery with military graveside services to be conducted by the American Legion and VFW Posts of Monroeville. Friends will be received from 2 to 8 p.m., Sunday, December 16 in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Jacobs Chapel, Monroeville. A Rosary service will be held at 8:00 p.m. Sunday following visitation. Preferred memorials are to Masses to the church; Monroeville EMS; or St. Joseph Catholic School Tuition Assistance Program.
