Robert C. Thompson, 83 years old of Fort Wayne, Indiana, passed away at 1:10 p.m. on Sunday, December 23, 2012 in the Parkview Hospital - Randallia Drive Campus located in Fort Wayne. Robert was born on Wednesday, July 31, 1929 in Allen County, Indiana the Son of the late Elmer J. Thompson and the late Adella W. (Scheumann) Thomspon. He married Joan L. Fuelling on April 25, 1954 in St. Peter Lutheran Church- Fuelling in rural Decatur, Indiana and she survives. Robert was a member of the Peace Lutheran Church in Ft. Wayne where he was an elder for a number of years and also was a former Sunday School Superintendent, Trustee, Member of the Endowment Fund, and School Board at Concordia Lutheran High School in Ft. Wayne. In addition to his volunteering at Peace Lutheran Church, he also devoted time and volunteered at Lutheran Life Village (Lutheran Home). He was also a member of the American Legion Post #296 in Ft. Wayne. Robert served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War period. Robert was part owner of City Glass Specialty Inc. retiring in1994 with 52 years of service as manager of the Auto Glass Dept. Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Joan L. Thompson of Ft. Wayne, IN; daughter, Janalee S. (Stanley) Bieberich of Ft. Wayne, IN; son, Jamie L. (Amy-Whetstone) Thompson of Columbus, OH; son, Jerry L. (Angie) Thompson of Wolcottville, IN; brother, James M. (Mary) Thompson of New Haven, IN; sister, LaVerne Graves of Ft. Wayne, IN; brother, Lloyd (Ti) Thompson of Bean Station, TN; sister-in-law, Mary C. Thompson of Litiz, PA; 6 grandchildren: Dan (Jill) Bieberich; Jared (Jacqueline) Bieberich; Nicholas (Jenny) Bieberich; Carley Thomspon; Samantha Thompson; and Abi Thomspon; and two great-grandchildren: Xavier Bieberich and Dominic Bieberich. Preceding Robert in death was one brother Thomas Thompson. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, December 31, 2012 in the Peace Lutheran Church, 4900 Fairfield Ave. Ft. Wayne, Indiana with Rev. Paul J. Spira officiating. Interment will follow in the Concordia Cemetery Gardens, Ft. Wayne, Indiana. Friends will be received from 12:00 Noon to 5:00 p.m. Sunday, December 30, 2012 in the D. O. McComb & Sons -Foster Park Chapel, Fairfield Ave. Ft. Wayne, Indiana and one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday. Preferred memorials are to Peace Lutheran Church or Worship For Shut Ins.
