Rita M. Vargas, 73 years old of Wren, Ohio, passed away at 3:12 p.m. on Wednesday, December 26, 2012 in the Van Wert County Hospital located in Van Wert, Ohio. Rita was born on Tuesday, June 27, 1939 in Malakoff, Texas the daughter of the late Isaac Mendez and the late Alejandra (Guerrero) Mendez. She married David A. Vargas on January 28, 1961 in Decatur, Indiana and he survives. Rita was member of the St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in Decatur, Indiana. Rita retired from Wren Post Office after 15 years of service; and was also a homemaker. Surviving are her husband, David A. Vargas of Wren, OH; daughter, Lydia (Jesus) Rodriguez of Decatur, IN; daughter, Alicia Roman of Decatur, IN; son, Andrew Vargas of Ft. Wayne, IN; daughter, Sara (Gary) Manes of Ft. Wayne, IN; brother, Paul (Dolores) Mendez of Decatur, IN; brother, Blas (Sarah) Mendez of Decatur, IN; sister, Connie (Richard) Moreno of Ft. Wayne, IN; 9 grandchildren: Lindsey Johnston, Logan Barger, Vanessa Barger, Briana Barger, Danielle (Tony) Guin, Vincent Roman, Mitchell Vargas, Claire Manes, and London Manes; and 3 great-grandchildren. Preceding Rita in death were one son, Daniel A. Vargas; five sisters; and two brothers. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, December 29, 2012 in the St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church with Father Patrick Joseph officiating. Interment will follow in the St Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Decatur. Friends will be received from 1-4 and 5-8 p.m. Friday, December 28, 2012 in the Zwick and Jahn Funeral, Decatur, IN and one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. A Rosary service will be held at 8:00 p.m. Friday.
