Violet J. Rode, 99 years old of Monroeville, Indiana, passed away on Thursday, December 27, 2012 at Parkview Regional Medical Center located in Fort Wayne. She was born on Saturday, June 21, 1913 in Mishawaka, Indiana the daughter of the late Jacob Bauer and the late Johanna (Frank) Bauer. She married Frederick W. Rode on August 4, 1935 in Bronx, New York and he passed away on April 23, 1995. Violet was a graduate of Mishawaka High School Class of 1931. She enjoyed fishing, crocheting, making cookies, reading, and being around young children. She was a member of the Marquardt Lutheran Church in Monroeville and a former member of Gloria De Lutheran Church in Huntington, New York. She was a member of the Senior Citizen's Club of Monroeville and a former member of the Eastern Star. Violet was a homemaker and had also worked at the U.S. Rubber Company in Mishawaka, Indiana from 1931 to 1935. Surviving are her son, Fred C. (Andrea) Rodes of Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin; son, William J. (Marie) Rode of New Bern, North Carolina; six grandchildren; and sixteen great-grandchildren. Preceding Violet in death were a grandson, Timothy Rode; a granddaughter, Dawn Rode; a sister, Florence Marquardt; and a brother, Frank Bauer. Services for Violet have not be decided at this time.
