DeVetta M. Rothgeb, 91 years old of Monroeville, Indiana, passed away on Saturday, December 29, 2012 at the Village of Heritage following an illness of one year. She was born on Saturday, December 10, 1921 in Allen County, Indiana the daughter of the late Walter Bolyard and the late Christina (Fry) Bolyard. She married George H. Rothgeb on September 28, 1948 in the St. Rose Catholic Church in Monroeville. DeVetta was a member of St. Rose Catholic Church in Monroeville and a charter member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post #420 of Monroeville where she had served as a past president and past treasurer. She was also a member of the 40 & 8 Club. She was a graduate of Hoagland High School and was a homemaker. Surviving are his son, Gene E. (Sue Hackert) Gick of Fort Wayne; son, Dean A. (Patty) Rothgeb of Monroeville; son, Gale L. (Peggy) Rothgeb of Monroeville; son, Neal A. (Beth) Rothgeb of Monroeville; son, Mark A. (Bobbie) Rothgeb of Monroeville; fifteen grandchildren; twenty-two great-grandchildren; and one great great-grandchild. Preceding DeVetta in death were her first husband, Lester Gick, who was killed in WWII; her second husband, George H. Rothgeb; and her sister, Juanita B. Clay. A prayer service will be held at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, January 2, 2013 in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Jacobs Chapel followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 10:00 a.m. in the St. Rose Catholic Church with Fr. Joseph D'Souza officiating. Interment will follow in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery, New Haven. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 5 to 7 p.m., Tuesday, January 1 in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Jacobs Chapel. There will be a Rosary Service held at 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home. Preferred memorials are Masses to the church or St. Joseph Catholic School Centenary Fund.
