Michael W. Garber, 55 years old of Maples, Indiana, passed away at 5:28 a.m. on Tuesday, January 29, 2013 in the Parkview Regional Medical Center located in Fort Wayne, Indiana following a sudden illness. Mike was born on Tuesday, March 26, 1957 in Lima, Ohio the son of the late Ronald Garber and the late Carol Topp and the late step-father, Tony Topp. He married Mary Marquardt and she survives. Mike served in the United States Army from 1975-1980. During his time he was stationed in Germany. Mike was Director of Sales for RP Wakefield Wood Manufacturing in Waterloo, Indiana. He had been employed at RP for 13 years. Surviving are his wife, Mary Garber of Maples, IN; daughter, Katie Garber of Beach Grove, IN; step-daughter, Kelly (Ken) Long of Ft. Wayne, IN; step-son, Chris (Katie) Spieth of Ft. Wayne, IN; brother, Robert (Mary Ann) Garber of Delphos, OH; brother, John (Audrey) Garber of Lima, OH; sister, Beverly Garber of Elida, OH; mother-in-law, Betty Marquardt of Monroeville, IN; seven grandchildren: Addison Garber, Ava Garber, Olivia Long, Daisy Long, Ford Long, Haiden Spieth, and Corbin Saalfrank. Preceding Michael in death were two half-sisters in infancy. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, January 31, 2013 in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Jacobs Chapel with Certified Funeral Celebrant Molly Farthing officiating. Friends will be received one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Thursday. Preferred memorials are to ASPCA.
