Gertrude E. Dickerson, 97 years old of Decatur, Indiana, passed away at 5:46 p.m. on Saturday, March 2, 2013 in the Woodcrest Nursing Center located in Decatur. Gertrude was born on Tuesday, May 25, 1915 in New Orleans, Louisiana the daughter of the late Louis G. Webert and the late Lillian (Johnson) Webert. She married the late Glen Dickerson on October 10, 1949 in Zion Lutheran Church, Decatur and he passed away on February 19, 1982. Gertrude was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church, Decatur; a former president of the Missionary Society and was instrumental in starting the Prayer Circle at the church. She was a member of the Delta Theta Tau Sorority in Decatur; former secretary of the Decatur Women's Club; and a member of the Research Club in Decatur. Gertrude was proud of her collection of Thimbles, numbering approximately 250; and also enjoyed collecting postcards. Gertrude had worked for Graham Abstract Company and was a homemaker. Surviving are her daughter, Becky (David) Creek of Elkhart, IN; daughter, Betsy Dickerson of Decatur, IN; son, Jon C. (Robbie) Dickerson of Dickinson, TX; two grandchildren: Joel (Charity) Creek and Daniel (Amanda) Creek; and four great-grandchildren: Jacob, Katlyn, Benjamin, & Joshua Creek. Preceding Gertrude in death was one brother, Louis Webert. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 8, 2013 in the Zion Lutheran Church with Rev. Phil Phifer officiating. Interment will follow in the Decatur Cemetery. Friends will be received from 4-8 p.m. Thursday, March 7, 2013 in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur and one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. Preferred memorials are to Zion Lutheran Church, Decatur; or Worship For Shut-Ins.
