Nicholas Liechty, 32 years old of Aurora, Colorado, passed away on Sunday, March 31, 2013 at his residence. He was born on Monday, February 16, 1981 in Augusta, Georgia the son of Thomas Liechty and Beth (Wolfe) Rettig. Nicholas was baptized at St. John Lutheran Church, Bingen and was a former member of Peace Lutheran Church in Berne, Indiana. He graduated from South Adams High School in 1999 and from Anderson University in 2003. He was employed with Continental Airlines for the past ten years and was currently working on getting his pilot's license. Surviving are his mother, Beth Rettig and her companion, Ned Myers, of Decatur; father, Thomas Liechty of Decatur; sister, Kacey (Jon) Burden of Fort Wayne; grandmother, Donna Johnson of Decatur; grandparents, Byron & Ruth Mary Liechty of Berne; grandmother, Glendolyn Rhymer of Decatur; and nephews, Parker, Liam & Miles Burden of Fort Wayne. Preceding Nicholas in death were his grandfathers. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 10, 2013 in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home with Pastor Daniel Dahling officiating. Interment will follow in the Decatur Cemetery. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 5 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, April 9, in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur. Preferred memorials are to the donor's choice.
