Dorothy L. Brandenburg, 91 years old of Decatur, Indiana, passed away on Thursday, April 11, 2013 in the Woodcrest Nursing Center Extended Care Unit. She was born on Thursday, May 5, 1921 in Detroit, Michigan the daughter of the late Harlan E. Williams and the late Lillie May (Sprayberry) Mitchell. She married the late William G. Brandenburg on May 30, 1946 in Mount Clemens, Michigan and he passed away on October 4, 1999. Dorothy was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Decatur where she was a former Stewardship & Evangelism Board Member, assisted in the church office, and had also volunteered at the Zion Lutheran School as a teacher's aide. She retired in 1987 as 1st Vice-President of the First State Bank with twenty-six years of service. Surviving are her daughter, Barbara Frane of Decatur; three grandchildren, Scott A. (Cari Bible) Wittwer; Kent A. (Kathy Dolen) Wittwer; & Zachary S. Brandenburg; ten great-grandchildren, Christen Wittwer; Brandon Wittwer; Amber Bible; Kiri Braun; Brandon Bible; Elizabeth Burkhalter; Kirk Wittwer; Kyle Wittwer; Jenna Wittwer; & Megan Dolan; and seven great great-grandchildren, Kadance Rumpling; Sydney Bible; Karter Wittwer; Hayden Perry; Kylee Wittwer; Emmalynn Bible; & Amelia Foreman. Preceding Dorothy in death were a son, Stephen Brandenburg; two sisters, Betty Blomberg & Lucille Schwartz; and her son-in-law, Don Frane. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 16, 2013 at the Zion Lutheran Church with Pastor Robert Becker and Pastor Phil Phifer officiating. Interment will follow in the Decatur Cemetery. Friends will be received from 2 to 5 and 6 to 8 p.m., Monday, April 15 in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur and one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday. Preferred memorials are to Zion Lutheran Church & School or Adams County Unit of the American Cancer Society.
