Russell L. Plumley, 77 years old of Monroeville, Indiana, passed away on Saturday, April 20, 2013 at his residence. He was born on Monday, June 17, 1935 in Van Wert, Ohio the son of the late Dewey Plumley and the late Esther (Johnson) Plumley. He married Dorcas E. Sautbine on September 4, 1954 and she passed away on October 4, 2006. Russell was a member of East Liberty United Methodist Church in Monroeville where he was active as an adult Sunday school teacher and was a former youth leader. He had also served as President of the Finance Committee for the church. He was a former member of the Monroeville Lions Club. Russell was a professional shuffle board player in the Bradenton, Florida area and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a 1953 graduate of Decatur High School and was owner and operator of R. L. Plumley, Inc. in Monroeville, Indiana. Surviving are his daughter, Marilyn (Stan) Cress of Convoy, Ohio; daughter, Judy (Cecil) Hook of Hicksville, Ohio; son, Stuart Plumley of Ottawa, Kansas; son, Thane (Kathy) Plumley of Van Wert, Ohio; brother, Harold (Opal) Plumley of Ocala, Florida; brother, Dean Plumley of East Chicago, Illinois; brother, Chalmer (Sue) Plumley of Fort Wayne, Indiana; and sister, Eva Mae (Phil) Rambo of Ellettsville, Indiana. He is also survived by eight grandchildren, Rachel (Chris) Crawford; Beth Hook; Cecil (Alicia) Hook; Shelly (Dan) Shivley; Mike (Jill) Cress; Travis (Angie) Plumley; Josh Plumley; & Kyle Plumley and ten great-grandchildren, William Crawford; Ethan Crawford; Tyler Crawford; Aiden Hook; Charlotte Hook; Nate Shivley; Dylan Cress; Lucas Cress; Morgan Cress; & Stella Rose Plumley. Preceding Russell in death was a brother, Robert Plumley. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 24, 2013 in the East Liberty United Methodist Church with Pastor Ralph Klinker and Pastor Bill Farmer officiating. Interment will follow in the Monroeville Memorial Cemetery. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 5 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, April 23 in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Jacobs Chapel, Monroeville and one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday.
