Daniel R. Everett, 83 years old of Decatur, Indiana, passed away on Thursday, May 9, 2013 at Woodcrest Nursing Center. He was born on Saturday, August 17, 1929 in Adams County, Indiana the son of the late Perry Everett and the late Bessie (Irwin) Everett. He married Lois D. Buuck on September 12, 1948 in Decatur, Indiana and she passed away on March 7, 2007. Dan was a graduate of Central High School in Fort Wayne, Indiana and had attended Monmouth School in Decatur for eleven years. He served his country in the United States Army from 1952 to 1954. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Bingen. He was also a member of the American Legion Post #43; the VFW Post #6248; and the Fraternal Order of Police. Dan retired from Don Ray Drive-A-Way in 1985. He had also worked at Fleetwood Plant 52 as the head of the service department and was a driver for Oakdale Kennels. Surviving are his son, Nicholas (Denise) Everett of Decatur; son, Mark (Kendra) Everett of Decatur; son, Steven Everett of Decatur; daughter, Vickie (Mark) Gallmeyer of Decatur; brother, Jack (Emily) Everett of Fort Wayne; and sister, Anna (Paul) Spangler of Decatur. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Erin Everett; Melissa (Jon) Zeser; Matt Everett; Clinton Everett; and Lucas (Elisha) Everett and five great-grandchildren, Ashlyn Everett; Hannah Everett; Lane Everett; Boston Everett; and Harper Zeser. Preceding Daniel in death was a brother, Robert Everett. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 11, 2013 in the St. John Lutheran Church, Bingen with Pastor Peter Brock officiating. Interment will follow in the St. John Lutheran Cemetery, Bingen. Friends will be received from 4 to 8 p.m., Friday, May 10, 2013 in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur and from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at the church on Saturday. In lieu of flowers or other tokens of remembrance, the family requests that memorials may be given to St. John Lutheran Church, Bingen or the Indiana Non-Game Wildlife Fund.
