Judith L. Doctor, 68 years old of Ft. Wayne, Indiana, passed away at 5:00 a.m. on Sunday, May 19, 2013 in the Parkview Regional Medical Center located in Fort Wayne. following an 11 years battle with cancer. Judy was born on Thursday, August 10, 1944 in Decatur, Indiana the daughter of the late Edward L. Selking and Esther (Remenschneider) Selking who survives. She married DeWayne Doctor on April 27, 1968 in St. John Lutheran Church- Bingen in Decatur, Indiana and he survives. Judy was a member of the Emmanuel Lutheran Church-Soest in Ft. Wayne. She was active in the Stephen Ministry and small group studies at church. She was also a member of the Lutheran Womens Missionary League (LWML). Judy was a 4-H leader for 10 years with the Marion BG's in Allen County. Judy really enjoyed baking, sewing, and gardening. In addition to her church and hobbies, she and her husband served as foster parents for the Lutheran Social Services for 11 years where they fostered 64 children, mainly infants and toddlers. Judy was a 1962 Monmouth High School graduate and a graduate of Warner Beauty College Class of 1963. Judy owned & operated the LaRae Shoppe. She also worked at the Lutheran Home & Golden Years Nursing Homes in Ft. Wayne as a beautician. Surviving are her husband of 45 years, DeWayne Doctor of Ft. Wayne, IN; Mother, Esther Selking of Decatur, IN; daughter, Krista (Michael) Esslinger of Ft. Wayne, IN; son, Brent (Sarah) Doctor of Ft. Wayne, IN; brother, Lynn (Sandy) Selking of Decatur, IN; sister, Luanne (Doug) Haupt of Gainsville, GA; 5 grandchildren: Cora Doctor, Keegan Esslinger, Bladen Esslinger, Mishaila Esslinger, and Treyson Esslinger. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 24, 2013 in the Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Soest with Rev. Kyle Krueger and Rev. Ben Haupt officiating. Interment will follow in the Emmanuel Lutheran Cemetery, Soest. Friends will be received from 1-8 p.m. Thursday, May 23, 2013 in the Emmanuel Lutheran Church-Soest and one hour prior to services Friday at the church. Preferred memorials are to Emmanuel Lutheran Church-Soest; Worship For Shut Ins; Allen County Cancer Services.
