Arthur W. Adam, 88 years old of Decatur, Indiana, passed away at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 12, 2013 in the Ossian Health & Rehabilitation located in Ossian, Indiana. Art was born on Saturday, October 11, 1924 in Ft. Wayne, Indiana the son of the late Joseph J. Adam and the late Blanche B. (Workman) Adam. He married the late Vera J. Scherry on July 2, 1949 and she passed away on September 7, 2007. . Art was a member of the Salem United Church of Christ Church in Magley, IN; a member of the American Legion Post #43; and past president of the Preble Volunteer Fireman's Association. Art served his country in the United States Army during World War II. Art retired in 1982 from Rea Magnet Wire with 37 years of service. Surviving are his son, Ricky W. (Donna) Adam of Bluffton, IN; daughter, Cheryl L. (Darrell) Heyerly of Decatur, IN; son, Dennis W. Adam of Huntington, IN; 4 grandchildren: Joey Ann (Red) Ray of Ft. Wayne, IN; Troy (Kristen) Adam of Poe, IN; Michelle (Craig) Simon of Bluffton, IN; Adam Heyerly of Decatur, IN; and 2 great-grandchildren: JadeLyn Heyerly-Jones of Bluffton, IN; and Braxton Adam of Poe, IN. Preceding Arthur in death were 3 brothers, Loren D.; Joseph M.; Kenneth R. Adam; 2 sisters, Anna Jane Bennett; Francile J. VanWagner. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 18, 2013 in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home with Pastor David Butz officiating. Interment will follow in the Salem U.C.C. Cemetery, Magley, IN. Military Graveside Services will be conducted by American Legion Post #43 Color Guard. Friends will be received from 2-5 and 6-8 p.m. Monday, June 17, 2013 in the Zwick and Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur, IN and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the funeral home. Preferred memorials are to Salem U.C.C. Building Fund; or the Amercian Legion Post #43 Color Guard.
