Charlotte M. Johnston, 79 years old of Monroeville, Indiana, passed away at 12:20 p.m. on Monday, August 26, 2013 in the Adams Heritage located in Monroeville. Charlotte was born on Sunday, February 18, 1934 in Woodburn, Indiana the daughter of the late William Kees and the late Jeanette (Swann) Kees. She married Bernard P. Johnston on June 28, 1952 in St. Rose Catholic Rectory in Monroeville, Indiana and he survives. Family was very important to Charlotte. In addition to shopping and camping, Charlotte enjoyed baking and cooking which she passed onto her children. Charlotte was a homemaker. In her early years, she worked at General Electric-Ft. Wayne and also at the Wayne Knitting Mills which was also in Ft. Wayne. Surviving are her husband of 61 years, Bernard P. Johnston of Monroeville, IN; son, Ricky L. (Charlene) Johnston of Monroeville, IN; son, Kevin P. (Leisa) Johnston of Monroeville, IN; four grandchildren: Sharri Johnston, Tammi Johnston, Nathan Johnston, & Jeremy Johnston; four great-grandchildren: Sabrina Johnston, Jordan Johnston, Austin Johnston, & Leah McCann; 1 great-great-grandchild: Baylee Jean Johnston. Preceding Charlotte in death were three sisters, Gertrude Sunday, Lucille Ehinger, Marshaline Fitzwater. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 29, 2013 in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Jacobs Chapel with Rev. Ralph Klinker officiating. Interment will follow in the Monroeville Memorial Cemetery. Friends will be received from 2-5 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, August 28, 2013 in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Jacobs Chapel, Monroeville, IN. Preferred memorials are to Monroeville Volunteer Fire Dept; Monroeville EMS; Family LifeCare-Hospice.
