Jackie Lee McDonald, 80 years old of Decatur, Indiana, passed away at 11:15 p.m. on Friday, August 30, 2013 in the Lutheran Hospital of Indiana located in Fort Wayne. Jackie was born on Monday, July 10, 1933 in Adams County, Indiana the son of the late Harold R. McDonald and the late Hazel E. (Grimes) McDonald. Jackie served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean War. Jackie was a lifetime member and past commander of the VFW Post 6236 in Decatur; the American Legion #297 Homer Pierson of Willshire, OH; and the Eagles Aerie #2653 in Decatur. Jackie was a truck driver for McDonnell's of Decatur for 28 years. Surviving are his daughter, Cathy McDonald (companion Don Hockemeyer) of Decatur, IN; son, Randy L. McDonald of Decatur, IN; sister, Carolyn Kocher of Lansing, MI; five grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren. Preceding Jackie in death were one brother, Jimmie R. McDonald; loving companion, Helen Cummings in July 2003. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 5, 2013 in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, with Funeral Celebrant Molly Farthing officiating. Interment will be in the Decatur Cemetery. Military Graveside Services will be conducted by the Homer Pierson Post #297 Color Guard. Friends will be received from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, September 4, 2013 in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur, IN. Preferred memorials are to Adams County Community Foundation-Diabetes Fund.
