Earl M. Hazelett

Earl M. Hazelett, 97 years old of Fort Wayne, Indiana, passed away on Thursday, September 19, 2013 at Parkview Regional Medical Center located in Fort Wayne. He was born on Monday, February 21, 1916 in Fort Wayne, Indiana the son of the late William Hazelett and the late Justine (Bearman) Hazelett. He married Lucille A. Zwick on September 16, 1939 and she passed away on September 5, 2011. Earl was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Fort Wayne, Indiana where he was the oldest baptized member of the church. He retired from from Tokheim Corporation in Fort Wayne after forty-six years where he started as a draftsman and advanced to the Director of Manufacturing. He was a founding member of the Quarter Century Club at Tokheim and was a former president of the Fort Wayne Foreman's Club. Earl enjoyed bowling and golf throughout his life. A handyman, after retirement, he enjoyed the many projects he would create around the house. Surviving are his son, Gary (Rene) Hazelett of Naples, Florida; son, Bruce Hazelett of Carmel, Indiana; and son, Kirk (Donna) Hazelett of Fort Wayne, Indiana. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, Jennifer (Chet) LeMay; Craig Hazelett; Brad (Dawn) Hazelett; Lara (Tyler) Shelton; Matt Hazellett; Mitchel Hazelett; and Alise Hazelett and eight great-grandchildren, Andrew; Hannah; Elizabeth; Chloe; Lucy; Ella; Jack; and Will. Preceding Earl in death were three brothers, Walter; Elmer; and Ervin Hazelett and a granddaughter-in-law, Laura Hazelett. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 24, 2013 in the Redeemer Lutheran Church, 202 West Rudisill Boulevard, Fort Wayne. Pastor David Peterson will officiate. Interment will follow in the Covington Memorial Gardens. Friends will be received from 3 to 8 p.m., Monday, September 23 in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Jacobs Chapel, in Monroeville, Indiana and one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday. Preferred memorials are to Worship for Shut-Ins or Special Olympics Allen County.
