Ann (Horner) Kahlert, 81, passed away peacefully at her home on September 25, 2013. She was born on November 11, 1931 in Katharinental, Ukraine. She was the daughter of the late Klemens Horner and the late Katharina (Flink) Horner. Before her marriage in 1959 to Josef N. Kahlert, she held a position in Stuttgart, Germany and after arriving in the United States on September 25, 1955, she was the assistant koechin at the St. Alexius Hospital in Bismark, ND. She loved her needlework and created hundreds of fine doilies, enjoyed gardening and spending time with her children and grandchildren. Ann is survived by her husband, Josef N. Kahlert of Berne; daughter, JoAnn E. (Walter) Comment of Decatur; son, Michael J. (Rhonda) Kahlert of Decatur; daughter, Victoria D. (Rodger) Reagan of Bluffton; son, Paul (Judell) Kahlert of Berne; and sister, Victoria Hopfner of Calgary, Canada. She is also survived by five grandchildren, Nathan Louis Comment; Benjamin Josef Kahlert; Elizabeth Ann Comment; Ashley Nicole (Quenton) Benya; and Jennifer Lynn Kahlert. She is preceded in death by her parents and three sisters, Emilie Jahner; Pauline Schwenk; and Magda Behringer. Ann was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Decatur, Indiana. Honoring her wishes, there will be no visitation and a private service for the immediate family will be held. Burial will be at Ray Cemetery in Monroe, Indiana. Preferred memorials are to the Salvation Army or Family LifeCare in Berne, Indiana.
