Wellington C. "Bill" Snyder, 84 years old of Decatur, passed away on Wednesday, October 23, 2013 at Adams Woodcrest. He was born on Wednesday, October 16, 1929 in Fort Wayne, Indiana the son of the late Peter D. Snyder and the late Gladys O. (Place) Snyder. He married his first wife, M. Helen Morehous, on August 16, 1950 and she passed away on October 11, 1991. He married Mary E. (Beer) Schindler on February 19, 1993 and she survives. Bill served in the United States Marine Corp from 1947 to 1951 during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of Decatur Church of Christ; where he had served as a teacher, trustee, deacon, and elder. Bill retired from Schwann's Ice Cream Company with sixteen years of service and prior to that he had worked at Jewel Tea Company for five years and Pepsi Cola Bottling Company for ten years. Surviving are his wife, Mary E. Snyder of Decatur; son, Mike (Donna) Snyder of Ray, Ohio; daughter, Carla Miller of Fort Wayne; step-daughter, Sheryl (Steven) Haggerty of Rocky Mount, North Carolina; and step-son, Thomas (Debbi) Schindler of Decatur. He is also survived by three grandchildren, Zachery Snyder; Sam Snyder; & Jade Miller; several step-grandchildren and several step great-grandchildren. Preceding Wellington in death were two sons, Craig & Ricky Snyder; a step-daughter, Kathy Schindler; and two brothers, Maurice & Meredith Snyder. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, October 28, 2013 in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home with Pastor David Ray and Steven Haggerty officiating. Military Honors will be conducted by the American Legion Post #43 of Decatur. Friends will be received from noon to 6 p.m., Sunday, October 27 in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home in Decatur. Preferred memorials are to Decatur Church of Christ.
