Weldon F. Richman, 72 years old of Hoagland, Indiana, passed away on Thursday, December 19, 2013 at his residence. He was born on Tuesday, September 23, 1941 in Fort Wayne, Indiana the son of the late Joseph E. Richman and the late Esther R. (Stellhorn) Richman. He married Linda L. Richman on July 29, 1973 in Emanuel Lutheran Church in New Haven and she passed away on December 7, 2005. Weldon was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Flatrock in Monroeville, Indiana where he served as a trustee, deacon, school board member, and as part of the Monday Morning Work Crew. He enjoyed watching his grandchildren's school activities and sporting events, playing BINGO, and watching all types of motor racing. He had raced stock cars at Baer Field, Avilla, Eldora, and Angola Speedways in the 1960's. Weldon was a graduate of Hoagland High School in 1960. He retired from Hagerman Construction in 2007 as a masonry foreman and was a member of the International Union of Bricklayers & Allied Craftsman Local #4 in Fort Wayne, Indiana for 50 plus years. Surviving are his daughter, Heidi (Doug) Saalfrank of Hoagland; son, Jason (Sara) Richman of Fort Wayne; daughter, Tiffany (Jason) Bennett of Fort Wayne; brother, Norman E. Richman of New Haven; sister-in-law, Doris Richman of Wolcottville; and sister-in-law, Delores "Babe" Richman of Hoagland. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, Abigail & Andrew Saalfrank; Victoria, Allison & Brady Richman; and Hannah & Hunter Bennett. Preceding Weldon in death were two sisters, June Knefelkamp & Donna Marquardt and two brothers, Ervin & Earl Richman. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, December 23, 2013 in the St. John Lutheran Church, Flatrock with Pastor Douglas Christian officiating. Interment will follow in the Emanuel Lutheran Cemetery in New Haven. Friends will be received from 1 to 5 p.m., Saturday, December 21 and 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. & 3:30 to 6 p.m. Sunday, December 22 in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Jacobs Chapel in Monroeville. There will also be one hour of visitation prior to the funeral service on Monday at the church. Preferred memorials are to St. John Lutheran Church, Flatrock or Cancer Services of Northeast Indiana.
