Robert E. Lovellette

Robert E. Lovellette, 80 years old of Decatur, Indiana, passed away on Wednesday, January 1, 2014 at Adams Memorial Hospital following a long illness. He was born on Sunday, July 23, 1933 in Decatur, Indiana the son of the late Harry D. Lovellette and the late Pearl M. (Fuelling) Lovellette. He married Ruby J. James on December 17, 1955 in Willshire, Ohio and she passed away on June 30, 2004. Robert served his country in the United States Navy from 1952 to 1956. He attended Union Chapel United Methodist Church in rural Decatur. Robert was a member of the American Legion Post #43 in Decatur and a 20 year member of its Color Guard. Additionally, he was a member of the Moose Lodge #1311 in Decatur; the Eagles Aerie #2653 in Decatur; and the General Electric Quarter Century Club in Fort Wayne. He enjoyed fishing and rebuilding engines. Robert retired from General Electric in Fort Wayne in 1993 with 42 years of service. Survivors include his daughter, Cynthia (Jim Ranly) Wefel of Decatur; daughter, Lynn (Mark) Roeder of Decatur; brother, Donald (Nell) Lovellette of Syracuse; brother, Ronald (Patricia) Lovellette of Roanoke; sister, Rose Lovellette of Fort Wayne; sister, Susie (John) Nuttle of Ossian; sister, Patricia Lovellette of Fort Wayne; and sister, Bonnie Dabbs of Fort Wayne. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Sarah Bailey; Zach Roeder; Lee Wefel; Jessica Roeder; and Michaela Roeder. Preceding Robert in death were a daughter, Susan Bailey on June 20, 2000; a granddaughter, Danielle Roeder; two brothers, Melvin and James Lovellette; and one sister, Bernette "Sally" Dunman. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 NOON Sunday, January 5, 2014 in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home in Decatur with Pastor Ed Karges officiating. Interment will follow in the Decatur Cemetery with Military Graveside Services to be conducted by the American Legion Post #43 of Decatur. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 & 5 to 8 p.m., Saturday, January 4 in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home in Decatur and one hour prior to the service on Sunday at the funeral home. Preferred memorials are to Adams County Community Foundation Cancer Fund or the American Legion Post #43 Color Guard.
