Florine Kiefer, 90 years old of New Haven, Indiana, passed away at 3:55 p.m. on Saturday, January 18, 2014 in the Parkview Regional Medical Center located in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Florine was born on Friday, March 16, 1923 in Adams County, Indiana the daughter of the late Lawrence Bradtmueller and the late Alma (Boenker) Bradtmueller. She married the late Elmer Kiefer on April 21, 1943 and he passed away on January 30, 1984. Florine was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church-Decatur Road in Ft. Wayne, Indiana where she was involved with the Altar Guild and Ladies Aid at the church. At the Trinity Lutheran Preschool, she volunteered as a teacher's aide for many years. Additionally, she was also a member of the General Electric Elex Club. She also was a "home nanny" for a doctor in the Ft. Wayne area for 9 years. Florine greatly enjoyed quilting, family get-togethers, and flowers...such a green thumb! Florine was employed by General Electric in Ft. Wayne for 17 years, retiring in 1984. Surviving are her daughter, Sharon (Robert) Hollis of Ft. Wayne, IN; daughter, Sandra (John) Slough of Rotonda West, FL; son, Duane (Debra) Kiefer of Ft. Wayne, IN; sister, Wilda Scheumann of Preble, IN; brother, Gilbert (Marilyn) Bradtmueller of New Haven, IN; sister, Annette Werling of New Haven, IN; 5 grandchildren: Michael Hollis, Kristine Cavacini, Kelli Moody, Timothy Kiefer, and Anthony Kiefer; 3 step-grandchildren: Shelley Jones, Craig Slough, and Stacey Boenker; 8 great-grandchildren: Sabrina Hollis, Savannah Hollis, Spencer Hollis, Thomas Cavacini, Krystal Elkins, John Moody III, Madelynne Kiefer, and Trevor Kiefer; 4 step-great-grandchildren: Zack Slough, Nicole Blair, Tate Boenker, and Elizabeth Boenker; 2 step-great-great-grandchildren: Hunter Goben and Seth Goben. Preceding Florine in death were 1 sister, Velma Macke; 3 brothers, Victor, Wilbert, & Lloyd Bradtmueller; 1 granddaughter, Stacy Kiefer. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 22, 2014 in the Trinity Lutheran Church-7821 Decatur Road, Ft. Wayne, Indiana with Rev. Donald Sandmann officiating. Interment will follow in the Concordia Cemetery Gardens, Fort Wayne, Indiana. Friends will be received from 2-5 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, January 21, 2014 in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur, Indiana and one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday.
