Edward F. Marbach

Edward F. Marbach, 81 years old of Berne, Indiana, passed away at 10:54 a.m. on Tuesday, February 4, 2014 at Swiss Village Nursing Center. Edward was born on Sunday, June 19, 1932 in Adams County, Indiana the son of the late Adolph F. Marbach and the late Viola C. (Grote) Marbach. He married the late Joyce Colleen Lobsiger on December 19, 1954 and she passed away on March 1, 2009. Edward was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Decatur; the Union Township Lion's Club; and the American Legion Post #43 of Decatur. He served his country in the United States Army from 1954-1956. Edward graduated from Decatur High School in 1951. He retired in 1997 from Dolco Packaging with 15 years of service and was also a lifelong dairy farmer. He also owned & operated E & M Gun Shop from 1973 to 1985. Surviving are his son, Michael E. (Billie) Marbach of Decatur; daughter, Janet S. Boeckmann of Fort Wayne; son, John F. (LeAnn) Marbach of Decatur; son, David W. (Jerry Stinnett) Marbach of Fort Wayne; daughter, Sue (Joe) Callow of Decatur; son, James R. (Tina) Marbach of Berne; brother, Herbert (Lorna) Marbach of Decatur; brother, Richard (Helen Witte) Marbach of Decatur; sister, Edith Niermann of Van Wert, Ohio; & sister, Edna Mesing of Decatur. He is also survived by thirteen grandchildren, Dani (Ty) Siebenaler; Eric Hartsough; Sarah Boeckmann; Will Boeckmann; Seth Boeckmann; Meghan Marbach; Amanda Marbach; Luke Marbach; Taylor Callow; Ben Callow; Jim Marbach; Boaz Marbach; & Sylvia Marbach; and six great-grandchildren, Gail Siebenaler; Travis Siebenaler; Elizabeth Hartsough; Lily Hartsough; Angelise Siebenaler; and Michael Siebenaler. Preceding Edward in death were three sisters, Florence Bulmahn; Norma Mueller; & Linda Brenneke. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, February 10, 2014 in the Zion Lutheran Church with Rev. Phil Phifer and Rev. Robert Becker officiating. Interment will follow in the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery. Military Graveside Services will be conducted by American Legion Post #43 Color Guard of Adams County. Friends will be received from 12:00 NOON to 5:00 p.m. Sunday, February 9, 2014 in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur, Indiana and one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday. Preferred memorials are to New Tribes Missions or the Edward & Colleen Marbach Scholarship Fund through the ACCF.
