Michael E. Bohrer, 60 years old of Monroeville, Indiana, passed away at 11:46 a.m. on Monday, February 17, 2014 at his residence following a period of failing health. Michael was born on Wednesday, August 12, 1953 in Ft. Wayne, Indiana the son of the late Edward Bohrer and Freda V. (Hughes) Smith, who survives. He married the late Vicki Adams and she passed away on September 2, 2013 in Texas. Michael was a veteran of the United States Army and served during the Vietnam War and was awarded the Purple Heart. Michael had been formerly employed in Texas in the auto parts industry before recently moving to Indiana. Surviving are his mother, Freda V. Smith of Monroeville, IN; brother, J. Tony (Linda) Smith of Monroeville, IN; sister, Sheila A. (Mark) Smith of Warsaw, IN; sister, Cathy (Rick) Smith of Monroeville, IN; brother, Timothy D. (Rita) Smith of Monroeville, IN; sister, Gelana E. (Thomas) Korte of Decatur, IN. Preceding Michael in death was his step-father, John T. Smith in 2007. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, February 20, 2014 in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Jacobs Chapel, Monroeville, Indiana with Pastor Brent Hickman officiating. Interment will follow in the Monroeville Memorial Cemetery. Military Graveside Services will be conducted by American Legion Post 420 and VFW Color Guard from Monroeville. Friends will be received from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, February 19, 2014 in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Jacobs Chapel, Monroeville, IN.
