Larry R. Ternet, 73 years old of Monroeville, Indiana, passed away at 12:51 p.m. on Monday, March 3, 2014 at his residence. He was born on Tuesday, March 12, 1940 in Monroeville, Indiana the son of the late Robert W. Ternet and the late LaVerne M. (Reuille) Ternet. He married Jean D. Wass on January 12, 1963 in St. Rose Catholic Church in Monroeville. Larry served his country in the United States Air Guard in France during the Berlin Crisis. He was a member of the St. Louis Catholic Church Besancon, New Haven; the Fort Wayne Corvette Club; the Tractor Pullers Association, and the Cockshutt Club. He was a graduate of Monroeville High School Class of 1958. He enjoyed Corvettes, restoring antique tractors, pulling tractors and collecting toy tractors. Larry retired in 1995 from Navistar after 25 1/2 years of service. He also had worked for Paul Wilson Farms for 20 years and was a lifetime farmer. Surviving are his wife, Jean D. Ternet of Monroeville; daughter, Jeanette M. (Mark) Figert of Oakwood, Ohio; son, Randall E. Ternet of Louisville, Kentucky; son, Robert E. (Kim) Ternet of New Haven; daughter, Janeece M. (Paul Swander) Friesner of Van Wert, Ohio; son, Richard E. Ternet of Orange County, California; and seven grandchildren, Justin & Melissa Figert; Landon, Jeremy & Garret Ternet; and Ashlynn & Ezra Friesner. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, March 7, 2014 in the St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in New Haven with Father Stephen Colchin officiating. Interment will follow in the St. Louis Catholic Cemetery, Besancon. Friends will be received from 3:00 - 8:30 p.m. Thursday, March 6, 2014 in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Jacobs Chapel, Monroeville, IN and one hour prior to the funeral mass at the church on Friday. A Rosary Service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home. Preferred memorials are to St. Louis Besancon Catholic Church Restoration Project, or Monroeville EMS.
