Charles B. Grabner, 87 years old of Monroeville, Indiana, passed away on Thursday, May 8, 2014 at Golden Years Homestead in Fort Wayne. He was born on Sunday, September 12, 1926 in Fort Wayne, Indiana the son of the late Clem M. Grabner and the late Irene (Blodgett) Grabner. He married L. Irene Hartman on July 3, 1947 and she passed away on February 1, 2006. Charles served his country in the United States Army during WWII. He was a member of the St. James Lutheran Church in New Haven and the American Legion Post #420 in Monroeville. Charles retired in 1981 from East Allen County Schools with 28 years of service. Surviving are his son, Alan Michael "Mike" (Pam) Grabner of Monroeville; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Preceding Charles in death were his son, Terry Lee Grabner; a brother, Clem Grabner; a half-brother, Robert R. Novick; and three half-sisters, Joan Myers, Mary Lou Huston & Evelyn Breidert. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 12, 2014 in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Jacobs Chapel in Monroeville with Rev. David J. Williamson officiating. Interment will follow in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in New Haven. Friends will be received from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m., Sunday, May 11 in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Jacobs Chapel in Monroeville and one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Monday. Preferred memorials are to St. James Lutheran Church in New Haven or Monroeville Fire Department.
