John D. Black, 69 years old of Decatur, Indiana, passed away at 2:55 a.m. on Sunday, May 18, 2014 in the Woodcrest Nursing Center located in Decatur. John was born on Monday, August 28, 1944 the son of the late Clarence Black and the late Lauraine (Teeple) Black. John was a member of the National Rifle Association. John had a passion for hunting and shows. John was employed for several years at Decatur Industries. He also was the owner/operator of Black's Taxidermy. Surviving are his daughter, Jodi (Kevin) Cook of Monroe, IN; daughter, Chris (Gary) Cearns of Decatur, IN; brother, Terry (Darlene) Black of Decatur, IN; companion, Edith "Babe" Wheeler of Decatur, IN; 5 grandchildren: Crystal (Aaron) Harvey; Laura Cook; Sarah Cearns; Shalynn Cearns; & Cody Cearns; & 3 great-grandchildren: Anabelle Harvey; Parker Harvey; & Jaxson Case. Per John's request no funeral services will be held. Friends will be received from 5-8 p.m. Thursday, May 22, 2014 in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur, IN. Preferred memorials are to the family.
