Shirley A. Frey, 75 years old of Decatur, Indiana, passed away on Tuesday, May 20, 2014 at Kingston at DuPont located in Fort Wayne. She was born on Wednesday, July 6, 1938 in Adams County, Indiana the daughter of the late Emerson Dwight Wass and the late Valera Genevieve (Hart) Wass. She married Keith L. Frey on August 9, 1959 at East Liberty United Methodist Church in rural Monroeville. Shirley was a member of the East Liberty United Methodist Church in rural Monroeville where she taught Jr. High Sunday School from 1965 to 2002. She was also a membership chairman; served on the nominating committee; and was a trustee at the church. She was a graduate of Decatur High School Class of 1956 and Parkview Methodist School of Nursing in 1959. She was an Occupational Health Nurse for General Electric in Decatur from 1971-1989 and then transferred to Fort Wayne and worked from 1989 until her retirement in February of 1997. Surviving are her husband, Keith L. Frey of Decatur; daughter, Karen L. (Anthony) Leone of Ekron, Kentucky; daughter, Kristine L. (Joseph M.) Waffle of Fort Wayne; sister, Ada Louise Hammond of Decatur; sister, Jean D. Ternet of Monroeville; sister, Jane M. (Leo) Busick of Woodburn; sister, Loretta R. (James) Waymire of The Villages, Florida; brother, E. Dale (Shirley) Wass of Decatur; brother, Dean W. (Cynthia) Wass of Monroeville; brother, Steven D. Wass of Monroeville; brother, Duane L. (Kathleen) Wass of Coatesville; two grandsons, Austin (Ann Marie) DeLaRosa & Ryder Waffle and two granddaughters, Amanda DeLaRosa & Rachel Waffle. Preceding Shirley in death were two brothers, Roy & Dee Brian Wass and a sister, Sheryl Lynn Wass. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, May 24, 2014 in the East Liberty United Methodist Church with Rev. Art Augsburger and Rev. Ralph Klinker officiating. Interment will follow in the Monroeville Memorial Cemetery. Friends will be received from 2 to 5 & 6 to 8 p.m. Friday in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home in Decatur and one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Preferred memorials are to East Liberty United Methodist Church, Alzheimer's Association, or the Donor's Choice.
