Robert L. "Bob" Chandler, 84 years old of Fort Wayne, passed away on Sunday, June 8, 2014 at Coventry Meadows. He was born on Tuesday, August 13, 1929 in Washington, Indiana the son of the late Loran M. Chandler and the late Vonda (Holsapple) Chandler-Smith. He married Ann (Lehrman) Schinnerer on September 24, 1983 in Fort Wayne. Bob served in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict . He was a member of Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in Fort Wayne and was a member of the American Legion Post # 296 in Fort Wayne. Bob retired from Fort Wayne Newspapers Circulation Department in 1993. After retirement, he worked part-time for Shambaugh, Kast, Beck, & Williams Law Firm in Fort Wayne. Surviving are his wife, Ann Chandler of Fort Wayne; step-son, Ron (Tina) Schinnerer of Boise, Idaho; step-son, Roger (Brenda) Schinnerer of Decatur; step-daughter, Deanee May of Tempe, Arizona; and step-son, Roger Reynolds of Fort Wayne. He is also survived by nine step-grandchildren, including Jacqui (Greg) Strickler of Decatur and Trenton (Marissa) Schinnerer of Decatur and a number of step great-grandchildren. Preceding Robert in death were a step-daughter, Debbie Tucker; two sisters, Margie Chandler and M. Evelyn Gaffney; and a brother, L. Max Chandler. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 12, 2014 in the Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church at 1819 Reservation Drive in Fort Wayne with Pastor Glenn Meyer officiating. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park in Fort Wayne. Friends will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 11, 2014 in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home in Decatur and from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Thursday prior to the services at the church. Preferred memorials are to Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church.
