Richard E. Morton, 79 years old of Monroeville, Indiana, passed away on Tuesday, August 5, 2014 at the Visiting Nurse & Hospice Home in Fort Wayne. He was born on Wednesday, March 13, 1935 in Allen County, Indiana the son of the late William B. Morton and the late Esther S. (Kleine) Morton. He married Carol A. Spieth on July 28, 1956 in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Richard was a member of Antioch Lutheran Church in Hoagland. He enjoyed woodworking, golf, and IU basketball. He retired from C. Miller and Sons in Fort Wayne; working there from 1984 to 2000. Surviving are his wife, Carol A. Morton of Monroeville; daughter, Pamela (George) Kline of Angola; son, Michael (Chris) Morton of Andrews; son, Kenneth (Dee) Morton of Monroeville; daughter, Sandra (Mark) Harrington of Fort Wayne; son, Matthew (Becky) Morton of New Haven; son, Scott (Lori) Morton of Monroeville; sister, Ruth Counterman of Hoagland; sister, Betty Harper of Fort Wayne; 11 grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. Preceding Richard in death were a sister, Laverne Kauffman; and two brothers, Donald & Thomas Morton. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, August 8, 2014 in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Jacobs Chapel with Pastor David Taylor officiating. Interment will follow in the Antioch Lutheran Cemetery in Hoagland. Friends will be received from 4 to 8 p.m., Thursday, August 7 in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Jacobs Chapel in Monroeville and one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Friday. Preferred memorials are to Visiting Nurse & Hospice Home in Fort Wayne.
