Ferdinand "Ferd" Selking, 83 years old of Decatur, Indiana, passed away at 3:40 a.m. on Friday, August 29, 2014 in the Lutheran Hospital of Indiana located in Fort Wayne. Ferd was born on Tuesday, May 5, 1931 in Adams County, Indiana the son of the late Henry Selking and the late Sene (Thieme) Selking. He married Carol Kurtz on August 31, 1958 in the St. John Lutheran Church, Lake Township in Allen County. Ferd was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church-Preble. Ferd was a lifelong farmer and also was employed for 24 years at Navistar in Ft. Wayne. Surviving are his wife of 56 years, Carol Selking of Decatur, IN; son, Gary Selking of Decatur, IN; son, Terry Selking of Ft. Wayne, IN; daughter, Sandra (Mike) Stutz of Tampa, FL; brother, Reinhard "Reiny" (Mariann) Selking of Decatur, IN; brother, Albert (Elsie) Selking of Ft. Wayne, IN; two grandchildren: Aaron Stutz and Amber Stutz. Preceding Ferd in death were one sister, Alma Jones; one brother, Gerhard Selking. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 2, 2014 in the St. Paul Lutheran Church, Preble with Rev. Dr. Daniel J. Brege officiating. Interment will follow in the St Paul Lutheran Cemetery. Friends will be received from 3-5 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday, August 31, 2014 in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur, IN and one hour prior to services at the church on Tuesday.
