Ted Ruble

Ted Ruble, 71 years old of Decatur, Indiana, passed away on Tuesday, September 16, 2014 at his residence. He was born on Tuesday, August 24, 1943 in Allen County, Indiana the son of the late Romey Ruble and the late Treva (Barkley) Ruble. He married Dorothy E. Schlemmer on October 14, 1961 in Zion Lutheran Church in Decatur. Ted was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Decatur where he served as a past elder and deacon. He was a lifelong farmer and was also a self-employed businessman with his family in machinery and automotive sales. A particular enjoyment in Ted's life was flying helicopters and airplanes, with his brothers, both for work and pleasure. He enjoyed and passed on his love for music to his family. He had a love and talent for designing, implementing and creating items for various trade needs. Surviving are his wife, Dorothy E. Ruble of Decatur; daughter, Linda Weil of New Haven; daughter, Jennifer (Andy) Guise of Decatur; brother, Tom (Carolyn) Ruble of Monroeville; brother, Sam (Annette) Ruble of Monroeville; sister, Judy (Larry) Hullinger of Titusville, FL; sister, Debbie (Eugene) Butcher of Decatur; and sister, Leah (Joe) Klinker of Decatur. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Joshua (Kim) Grote; Justin Weil; Jonathan Klinker; Kara Sue Klinker; Faith Habegger; and one great-granddaughter, Emma. Preceding Ted in death were a daughter, Kelly Sue Klinker; a sister, Ann Bieberich; and a brother, Roxy Ruble. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, September 20, 2014 in the Immanuel Lutheran Church with Rev. David Koeneman officiating. Interment will follow in the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery. Friends will be received from 2 to 5 and 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, September 19 in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home in Decatur and one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Preferred memorials are to Immanuel Lutheran Church or Worship for Shut-Ins.
