Ruth E. Crosby, 84 years old of Decatur, Indiana, passed away on Thursday, September 18, 2014 at Adams Memorial Hospital following a brief illness. She was born on Thursday, April 10, 1930 in Fort Wayne, Indiana the daughter of the late Walter F. David and the late Dora M. (Hanke) David. She married Charles F. Crosby on April 18, 1953 in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Ruth was a member of the St. Peter Lutheran Church, Fuelling and a long-time member of the choir. She retired in 1990 from Central Soya after 25 years of service. Surviving are her husband, Charles F. Crosby of Decatur, IN; daughter, Deborah M. (Ian) McDonald of Redford, MI; son, Charles D. "Butch" (Jill) Crosby of Naperville, IL; son, Michael W. (Bonnie) Crosby of Decatur, IN; daughter, Diane R. (Chuck) Dorantes of Waterford, MI; and brother, Walter A. David of Charles City, IA. She is also survived by nine grandchildren, Jennifer (Joe) Madigan, Elizabeth McDonald, Megan McDonald, Shane Crosby, Alyssa Crosby, Michael T. Crosby, Drew Dorantes, Tyler Dorantes, and Kennedy Dorantes; and two great-grandchildren, Delaney Madigan and Maisie Madigan. Preceding Ruth in death were a daughter, Kay Ann on April 4, 1956; a brother, William David; and two sisters, Mary Ann Roemke and Velma Eiserle. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, September 22, 2014 in the St. Peter Lutheran Church, Fuelling with Rev. Martin Moehring officiating. Interment will follow in the St. Peter Lutheran Cemetery, Fuelling. Friends will be received from 12 noon to 3 p.m. and 4 to 6 p.m., Sunday, September 21 in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home in Decatur and one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday. Preferred memorials are to St. Peter Lutheran Church, Fuelling; SPI School; or Worship for Shut-Ins.
