Estella Canales, 71 years old of Decatur, Indiana, passed away at 12:00 noon on Thursday, September 25, 2014 in the Adams Memorial Hospital located in Decatur, following an extended illness. Estella was born on Monday, December 14, 1942 in Crystal City, TX the daughter of the late Margarito "Margee" Canales and the late Paula (Espinoza) Canales. Estella was a member of the Fellowship Missionary Church in Ft. Wayne, IN where she was very active in the children's programs. She graduated in 1964 from Decatur High School. Following her graduation, she attended La Puente Bible Institute, Ivy Tech, and Ft. Wayne Bible College. Estella enjoyed doing crafts, painted, liked to cook, and enjoyed being with her family. Estella retired from Indiana-Michigan Power (now AEP) as a service consultant. She was formerly employed by CTS in Berne and International Harvester in Ft. Wayne, IN. Surviving are her sister, Rosa (Rev. Daniel) Aguilar of Decatur, IN; sister, Elsita "Elsie" Canales of Decatur, IN; sister, Rebecca Canales of Decatur, IN; sister, Raquel Canales of Decatur, IN; sister, Dianna (Edward) Mendez of West Palm Beach, FL; sister, Ermelinda Wages of New Paris, OH; brother, Ricardo "Richard" (Sandra) Canales of Decatur, IN; several nieces & nephews. Preceding Estella in death were a nephew, Vincent James Longberry; a great niece, Ellie Rose Richardson. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday, September 29, 2014 in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home with Pastor Bill Hickle, Pastor Daniel Aguilar officiating, and the eulogy being said by Victor Canales. Interment will follow in the Decatur Cemetery. Friends will be received from 1-3 and 4-7 p.m. Sunday, September 28, 2014 in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur, IN and one hour prior to services Monday at the funeral home. Preferred memorials are to the family and her longtime caregiver, Elsita Canales.
