Carol S. Thieme, 70 years old of Decatur, Indiana, passed away on Thursday, October 9, 2014 at DuPont Hospital in Fort Wayne. She was born on Saturday, September 9, 1944 in Ionia, Michigan the daughter of the late Martin Succop and the late Ottilie (List) Succop. She married James R. Thieme on December 27, 1971 in Redeemer Lutheran Church in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Carol was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Decatur. She also attended St. Paul Lutheran Church in Foley, Alabama. Carol greatly enjoyed and loved singing. She was involved in choirs her whole life, including church choirs and university choirs. She was a graduate of Valparaiso University and Indiana University School of Social Work in Indianapolis. She was a private practice social worker for over 30 years in Decatur and was a member of the ACSW; BCD; and LCSW. She had previously worked at Park Center in Fort Wayne, Decatur, & Bluffton. Surviving are her husband, James R. Thieme of Decatur; son, Marty Thieme of Lake Orion, MI; daughter, Christina (Chip Burns) Thieme of Indianapolis; sister, Katherine (Ned) Daugherty of Fort Collins, CO; sister, Dorothy (Robert) Schroeder of Frankenmuth, MI; and sister, Helen Succop of Auburn, AL. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, October 14, 2014 in Immanuel Lutheran Church, 8538 N 500 E, Decatur with Pastor David Koeneman officiating. Interment will follow in the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 5 to 8 p.m., Monday, October 13 in Immanuel Lutheran Church and one hour prior to the service at church on Tuesday. Preferred memorials are to Immanuel Lutheran Church; Worship for Shut-Ins; or Valparaiso University.
