Rosella Mae Rekeweg, 83 years old of Decatur, Indiana, passed away at 1:48 p.m. on Friday, October 24, 2014 in Adams Woodcrest located in Decatur, where she had been a resident since September. Rosella was born on Friday, October 31, 1930 in Decatur, Indiana the daughter of the late Reinhard Werling and the late Wilma (Wefel) Werling. She married Edgar William Rekeweg on October 6, 1951 in St. Paul Lutheran Church-Preble and he survives. Rosella was a member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Ossian, IN. She was an active member, being involved with the Ladies Aid, Lutheran Women's Missionary League (LWML), Altar Guild, was a VBS assiatant, also involved with PTL, and sang in the church choir. In addition, she enjoyed singing with the Decatur Circuit Choir. Additionally, Rosella was involved with Christian Fellowship and the Concordia Seminary Guild. She enjoyed gardening, food preserving, flowers, crocheting, playing the piano for Bible School and the Ladies Aid. Rosella was homemaker and helped on the family farm. Surviving are her husband of 63 years, Edgar William Rekeweg of Decatur, IN; daughter, Marsha (Thomas) Zimmerman of Ft. Wayne, IN; daughter, Shirley (Robert) Brown of Decatur, IN; son, Stanley Rekeweg of Ossian, IN; daughter, Lisa (Anthony) Austin of Huntington, IN; brother, LeRoy (Marilyn) Werling of Decatur, IN; sister, Alice (Carl) Witte of New Haven, IN; 9 grandchildren: Luke Zimmerman; Mark Zimmerman; John Zimmerman; Kristin (Steven) Carroll; Joshua Brown; Jason (Danielle) Rekeweg; Justin Rekeweg; Kara (Brett) Smith; Cameron Austin; and 8 great-grandchildren: Jack Carroll; Owen Carroll; James Carroll; Ethan George; Grahm Vanover; Ally Smith; Avery Smith; and Matthew Rekeweg. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 29, 2014 in the Bethlehem Lutheran Church 6514 E. 750 N. Ossian, IN with Rev. Randall Wurschmidt officiating. Interment will follow in the Bethlehem Lutheran Church Cemetery. Friends will be received from 2-5 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, October 28, 2014 in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur, IN and one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday. Preferred memorials are to Bethlehem Lutheran Church; Worship For Shut Ins; Concordia Theological Seminary.
