Judith Ann "Judy" Sorg, 75 years old of Fort Wayne, Indiana, passed away on Tuesday, November 18, 2014 in the St. Thomas Midtown Hospital located in Nashville, Tennessee. She was born on Wednesday, July 26, 1939 in Lakewood, Ohio the daughter of the late Edwin Parfitt and the late Louise (Vande Velde) Parfitt. She was married to her loving husband, John Fridolin Sorg on May 2, 1959 and he preceded her in death on April 19, 1993. Judy was a member of St. Joseph Hessen Cassel Catholic Church, where she was active in the food bank, money counting, Christmas Giving Tree, and a Script Volunteer. She was a volunteer at the Allen County SPCA and the Ronald McDonald Family House. She was a paraprofessional at Hoagland and New Haven Elementary and had served as the librarian at Hoagland Elementary for 13 years retiring in 2005. Judy loved children and animals. She never met a stranger and had a loving heart. She was an avid reader and loved to travel. Surviving are her daughter, Mary Lou Sorg of Fort Wayne; daughter, Karen A. Sorg of Fort Wayne; son, James E. Sorg of Fort Wayne; and her loving pets, Peanut; Jingles; & Zip. Preceding Judy in death were her daughter, Jane Marie Sorg at birth and her half-sister, Jean Kern. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 24, 2014 in the St. Joseph Hessen Cassel Catholic Church with Fr. Bill Kummer officiating. Interment will follow in the St. Joseph Hessen Cassel Catholic Cemetery. Friends will be received from 12 noon to 3:30 p.m. and 5 to 8 p.m., Sunday, November 23 in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Jacobs Chapel in Monroeville and one hour prior to the Mass at the church on Monday. A Rosary service will be held at 3:30 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home. Preferred memorials are to Masses to the church; Allen County SPCA; or Cancer Services of Northeast Indiana.
