Gaye Forrest McAdams Peterson, 56 years old of Decatur, Indiana, passed away unexpectedly at home on December 23, 2014. Gaye was born on November 21, 1958, in Atlanta, Georgia. This was the beginning of her journey as an "Army Brat" traveling across the United States and abroad. She was a proud graduate of Nurnberg High School, Nurnberg, Germany Class of 1977. She attended Queens College in Charlotte, NC. She met her loving husband Thomas "Mongo" Peterson while he was serving in the US Army in Fayetteville, NC. They relocated to Decatur to marry on May 12, 1984. Together they raised two sons Cristopher (Dorothy Tussing) Peterson and Greg Peterson. She loved being "Mama" to Isaiah and Kylie Peterson. She dedicated her working life to providing tender loving care for her surviving family. She was preceded in death by her parents, (Ret.) Colonel Michael Crawford McAdams and Sandra Gay McAdams. Surviving are her husband, Thomas "Mongo" Peterson of Decatur, IN; son, Cristopher (Dorothy Tussing) Peterson of Decatur, IN; son, Greg Peterson of Decatur, IN; sister, Becky (Harold) Setliff of Wilmington, NC; nephew, Rami Chilton of Wilmington, NC; brother, Michael "Mac" McAdams of Seaford, VA; niece, Loren McAdams of Seaford, VA; 2 grandchildren: Isaiah and Kylie Peterson. A Celebration of Gaye's life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, December 29, 2014 in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home with Sandy Hildebrand officiating. Interment will follow in the Decatur Cemetery. Her family will receive friends from 12:00 NOON - 3:00 p.m. Sunday, December 28, 2014 in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur, IN.
