Allen W. Ross, 58 years old of Decatur, Indiana, passed away at 10:40 a.m. on Saturday, January 3, 2015 in the Adams Memorial Hospital located in Decatur. Allen was born on Saturday, September 1, 1956 in Decatur, Indiana the son of Leo Ross and Joyce (Young) Ross and they survive. Allen was a member of the Indiana Bowhunters' Association and the National Rifle Association. Allen was an avid outdoorsman. He had a big heart and big smile. His positive and friendly demeanor was infectious. He loved his children and grandchildren along with his many friends. Teaching was an important part of Allen's life. He greatly enjoyed time spent with children and others in bowhunting safety along with respecting the outdoors and the greater environment. Historical re-enactment was also important to Allen...he specialized in the War of 1812. Allen was employed by Avery Denison in Ft. Wayne until his health declined. Surviving are his daughter, Amanda (Steven) High of Monroeville, IN; daughter, Ashley (Michael) Bremer of Monroeville, IN; son, Matthew Ross of Ft. Wayne, IN; parents, Leo & Joyce Ross of Decatur, IN; brother, Larry (Jane) Ross of Decatur, IN; sister, Doreen (Don) Longworth of Pleasant Mills, IN; brother, Chris Ross of Decatur, IN; 4 grandchildren: Alexis Bremer; Emily High; Michael Bremer; and Madison High; and nieces & nephews: Shane Ross; Adam Ross; and Kazia Ross. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 8, 2015 in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur, IN. Friends will be received from 2-5 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, January 7, 2015 in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur, IN and one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Thursday. Preferred memorials are to Indiana Bowhunter's Association.
