Raymond C. Borne, 102 years old of Fort Wayne, Indiana, passed away at 3:40 p.m. on Wednesday, February 4, 2015 in the Covington Commons located in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Ray was born on Wednesday, April 24, 1912 in Adams County, Indiana the son of the late Christ Borne and the late Katherine (Korte) Borne. He married the late Vivian Bernice Closs on October 17, 1936 in Kentucky and she preceded him in death on September 8, 1996. Ray was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Fort Wayne where he was a member for more than 60 years and taught Sunday School for many years. He was a former member of the Salem Reform Church in Magley, IN. Ray was a graduate of Kirkland High School and Ball State Teachers College. He taught school for 7 years and then became a railroad mail clerk with the United States Mail Service. Ray retired as plant superintendent from Fort Wayne Wire & Die with 53 years of service. Surviving is his daughter, Catherine A. Borne of Gas City, IN; and his companion, Vera Schmidt of Ft. Wayne, IN. Preceding Raymond in death were 1 son, Terrill W. Borne on April 4, 2003; 2 brothers: Noah & Chalmer; and 5 sisters: Frances Jayberg, Edna Stewart, Ida Yost, Eulalia Augsburger, and Esther Bieberich. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, February 8, 2015 in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home with Rev. Jeff Lehn officiating. Interment will follow in the Decatur Cemetery. Friends will be received from 2-6 p.m. Saturday, February 7, 2015 in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur, IN and from 12:00 noon until time of the service on Sunday at the funeral. Preferred memorials are to First Presbyterian Church-Fort Wayne.
